Naveen Patnaik led BJD makes huge electoral gains in Panchayat & Zila Parishad Election. Opposition BJP & Congress decimated.

For those who observe the politics of #Odisha will not be surprised by the outcome of #OdishaPanchayatElectionResults2022#ZilaParishad. While the The ruling Biju Janata Dal has swept the local elections with more than 750 wins, the opposition BJP which performed very well in the previous 2017 panchayat elections in the districts of Mayurbbhanj, Kalahandi and Malkangiri, failed to retain the seats. Congress was never a force but it seems the spot for No 2 opposition will be keenly watched as Congress & BJP will have equal numbers in the finally tally. Highlights : BJP fought a spineless election with no national leaders campaigning & the booth level workers were either silenced or outnumbered.BJD used its full muscle/financial power to win the elections. The blatant misuse of power & money distributed to the voters were clearly visible. To BJD’s credit, its workers worked with full strength as they had the blessings of the top brass. BJP could have performed well but they surrendered much before the voting. BJP also realized that Modi Mantra does not work in Odisha as Naveen Patnaik’s popularity is much higher. Like AAP in Delhi or TMC in West Bengal, BJD in Odisha is too strong to be defeated.Congress may take the Opposition Role in the future days provided the state leadership work in tandem. Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) Election will be in similar lines & the candidate of BJD for the prestigious mayor’s post will have to spend more than 7 Crores to win. #democracy#LocalSelfGovernment
